How to Read Resistor Color Codes

Resistors use color bands to indicate their resistance value and tolerance. How does it work? For a 4-band resistor:
1st & 2nd bands: First two digits of the value
3rd band: Multiplier (power of 10)
4th band: Tolerance

For a 5-band resistor:
1st, 2nd & 3rd bands: First three digits
4th band: Multiplier
5th band: Tolerance
