Resistance is a measure of how much a material opposes the flow of electric current. One ohm is defined as the resistance that allows one ampere of current to flow when a voltage of one volt is applied across a component.
So, if you have 1 volt of potential difference across a resistor and the current flowing through it is 1 ampere, the resistance of the resistor is 1 ohm.
