The formula for the total resistance
R_total in a series circuit is simply the sum of the individual resistances.
If you have resistors \(R_1, R_2, R_3, \dots, R_n\) connected in series, the total resistance is:
\[
R_{\text{total}} = R_1 + R_2 + R_3 + \dots + R_n
\]
So, in a series circuit, the total resistance increases as more resistors are added.
