In the 74153 IC, which is a dual 4-input multiplexer, the
active low pins are the
Enable pins (often labeled as
\(\overline{E}\)). These pins control whether the multiplexer is enabled or not.
The 74153 has two enable pins:
- \(\overline{E_1}\) (pin 6) for the first multiplexer.
- \(\overline{E_2}\) (pin 15) for the second multiplexer.
Both of these pins are active low, meaning the multiplexer will only function (allowing signals to pass through) when the enable pin is held
low (logic 0). If the enable pin is
high (logic 1), the multiplexer is disabled, and no output is generated.
To summarize:
- \(\overline{E_1}\) (pin 6) and \(\overline{E_2}\) (pin 15) are the active low pins.
