The largest DC (Direct Current) transmission line in India is the
North-East to Agra (NEAG) HVDC link. It is a
600 kV, 3,000 MW High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission line that connects the power grid of the northeastern states of India to the northern grid at Agra, Uttar Pradesh.
This HVDC line plays a crucial role in transmitting electricity from the power-rich northeastern states (like hydroelectric power) to areas with high demand, including the northern and western regions of India. The NEAG HVDC link is part of the effort to enhance the national grid's reliability and efficiency, especially when it comes to long-distance power transmission.
